The recent rain-break afforded our yard a few days to dry out, and us to tidy up around here in preparation for the incoming cooler weather and of course decorating for Christmas. Out with the pumpkins & leaves, and in with the tree & lights!

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Well this year we missed the countdown by 5 minutes for N's first Tree Lighting Ceremony! We thought we'd be standing around with the kids like we always are, so we decided to start off the evening at the coffee shop and walk to the city center with our popcorn and warm drinks, and as we approached hoards of people were headed toward us. Bummer. Well, we still got in our photo's and next year we'll be there on time.

A Little Holiday Cheer
Jen made this for me a few year back, and even though the sight of those red holiday cups from Starbucks makes my heart skip a beat, I love, love, LOVE this handmade sleeve for my peppermint mocha. I keep it in the pocket of my rain jacket, that way I'm sure to find it as the weather dictates, just as it did for my walk to E's school this morning.
Cheers!
Umbrella Heaven
Look how stinkin' cute these umbrella's are...and they all have matching rain boots & rain coats!

Sit Up and Take Notice
N is sitting! Can't exactly leave him unattended because of the inevitable head dive, but he can hang out for quite a while on his own and is getting better at stabilizing himself...and it helps to be distracted with a little bit of Bambi.

Bed Time
We've been in the process of slowly accustoming N to sleep unswaddled. He's been sleeping with one arm out of his wrap, but wakes up constantly if we take it completely away. Today I stumbled upon these really fabulous sleep sack's down at a local shop. They're so soft and cozy for this colder weather, unzip like a sleeping bag along the sides and snap at the shoulders, and are pretty thick and weighted. The one I picked up is this puppy, and it'll supposedly fit him until 24 months! N's slept like a champ for his naps today and is doing great so far tonight! Fingers crossed.
What the Hail!
As we were driving home from a birthday party this evening I noticed a peculiar and slushy substance piled up along the sides of the wet streets and as we neared our home the ground became more and more white, and less and less wet. E started kicking her legs and screeching "I'm gonna make snowballs!" We parked in the garage, climbed out, and E made a dash for the driveway. It wasn't snow after all, it was pea sized hail 1" deep! Man that really musta made a racket coming down, I'm kinda sorry I missed it!
Cover up those outside faucets, it's the start a what's supposed to be a very cold weekend!

The In's and Out's With Food
Well, I've started preparing and freezing baby food again. I was obsessed when we introduced foods to E. I did a lot of reading, I made my own rice cereal, and had bags and bags in the freezer full of cubes with every puree you can imagine. I love food and love cooking, and felt that I had to somehow impart this love to my daughter as early as possible. And here we are with N, and it's almost time to get his face dirty. Lately his gaze has been following every bite of food that makes it's way to my mouth, and he's been reaching for everything on the table. Today I made avocado and banana cubes, and tomorrow I'll do sweet potato. N got a kick out of watching me, and was so delighted to get a little sample of liquefied banana off my finger.
*The book I mention above was given to me when E was about 5 months (thank you so much Denise) and is fabulous! There is an easy chart to follow of which foods to introduce at which age, and also a very in depth look at most fruits and vegetables (when in season, best way to ripen/store, how to prepare and methods for freezing). I have highly recommend this book to everyone, and lent my copy out numerous times, check it out.

20 Wrong Answers
E: "Mom, what's that game where you try and guess an animal and if you have 20 wrong answers then you loose?"
Me: "Uh, 20 Questions?"
Me: "Uh, 20 Questions?"
Two Peas in a Pod
Right from the start E and her good friend Annie have been inseparable at school (and her teacher often mistakenly calls one by the other's name). And it just so happens she just lives up the street from us, so the girls get to see each other quite frequently outside of school too. It's a pleasure having Annie over after school, the girls quickly disappear into E's room and very soon uproarious giggles echo through the house. They're the perfect pair.
