Party Time!

N got to celebrate his big day for a week. I started decorating the house a week before the actual party, and I was glad to have it so festive! N really wanted a Totoro Party. Our family has a very soft spot in our collective family heart for the Studio Ghibli animated films and Totro is at the squishy center. I set to work checking out blogs from moms that had done the same thing, I filed some good ideas away and wondered if I was really going to pull this off? I found a site dedicated to free printable's I used for hanging ceiling decorations, I found another that offered free wallpapers that I downloaded and printed up for magnets. The kids and I started sunflower seeds so our guests could take home a few sprouts a la the acorn garden scene. I visited a handful of Asian markets to pick and choose a few snacks that our American kid palates would appreciate. I began strategizing how to pull off a Cat Bus birthday cake and Soot Sprite and Totoro carnival games...I had waaaaay too much fun with this.

Fall Puyallup Fair 2011

So we went to the big one today with Mabel, Stephen and Rochelle. Lots and lots of rides took up the bulk of time, but I think looking into the future, E will always remember when she lost her 3rd tooth eating cotton candy.

C'mon, how cute is this?!

cars

You'd think we'd be sick of 'em, but no, N looked at the chicks with their mama for a long time

Mabel's face became progressively frightened each time the roller coaster went around until she was shreaking...poor thing.

E rang the bell and took home a blow up dolphin

Immediately after her tooth fell out

Stephen was content to snack and watch the big kids

1/2 Dozen

I think at this point my mom has more shots of her grandbabies than she does of my sister, brother and me. She never misses and opportunity to line 'em all up and have them beam toward the camera's...tho come to think of it, maybe it's just a ploy to see her grown 30-something children act like complete idiots behind the camera to fulfill her never ending requests for this tiny generation to "SMILE!"

Morning at the Zoo

We set out for the zoo this morning with Rochelle, Mabel and Stephen.

We were delighted to see some great peeks at the hippo (walking around, eating and then submerging herself), elephants (getting a bath) and lion (dozing in the sun very near the viewing window). The Animatronic Dinosaur instillation gave N quite a scare, but for some reason he was totally amped to climb up on the back of this T Rex that didn't move.

The meercat exhibit always offers some great photo's; Mabel and E were in fine form.
