Paging Dr...

We made our way to a children's museum up north this week, and E really enjoyed the veterinary care section...

Playing Catch-Up

For the last week I've been battered by the flu, or at least something like it. I was so glad to have family and DVD's to entertain E, while I slept. The dishes piled up, the laundry stopped, and I couldn't do a thing about it. Weak, nauseous, and exhausted, I was down. I hibernated. The only thing I could stomach was water, and soda crackers. So after days of sweating and lying dizzy in bed, we ventured out on Saturday. We traveled by ferry to visit my younger brother on the Kitsap Peninsula. Our day was mostly comprised of watching the raindrops roll down windsheild as we waited in the ferry line, but it was enough for me. We went for a slow walk in B's neighborhood under the cherry blossoms, and the fresh air felt good.

Pineapple Express

So the weather was uncannily warm today, I guess due to a Hawaiian weather pattern that shifted up to us...So it was wet and warm, like 60 and humid. We had a lazy morning, I made ham-garlic-parsley-motzerella scrambled eggs, toast with raspberry jam and coffee for breakfast for us (E had orange juice). Then we had chatted with some long-distance friends via our i-cam and the internet. Later we threw on some clothes and meandered down to Ballard, where the only firm plan of visiting Archie McPhee's was preceded by a few stops: Clover, Sonic Boom, and the Hi-Life for lunch. We were soaking wet despite our umbrella's and rain gear, but not the least bit chilled. It was really fun. E walked away with some cat band-aids and a Minnie Mouse PEZ dispenser.

Morning with Gram

Right after I was married I started a full-time nanny position, which I held for 1 year. In that time my mom and I started a small tradition: Friday Morning Walks. However, between the insane hours, lack of medical benefits and adult interaction I returned to by previous vocation as a preschool teacher. But with the stipulation that I had Friday's off. This was not necessarily due to any tribute to our sacred time together, but it worked out nicely and we repeatedly used Friday's as a time to catch-up. Well, now the tables have turned I now stay at home with E, and my mom has returned to work, save for Friday's. So the tradition continues. The weather usually dictates the location, but not always, we have returned from outings drenched in the frequent Northwest downpours. Here are a few shots from this cool and breezy morning at the beach :

Busy Body

I've enrolled E in some classes at the local community center, and she's really enjoyed interacting with the other kids, and just being somewhere else for an hour and a half. Here are just some of the activities they cram into her Thursday morning:
