Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
It's frick-frackin hot 'round these parts, triple digits today with high humidity and no breeze. It took poor ol' N 2 hours to settle in for sleep last night, even though he was only outfitted in a diaper and a light blanket swaddle. We purchased a small air conditioner earlier in the summer, but I'm afraid it's not much help...only keeping the upstairs a toasty 82 degrees. That left us with only a few activities worth exerting energy on; Mary Poppins won out without an argument on my part (I hate turning the TV on in the Summer). It's one of E's all-time favorites, and N loved the music, kicking his little bare feet like crazy.

First Show
N's first show just so happened to be Death Cab's last for a while...it was a beautifully warm night for an outdoor show in Marymoor Park, and really nice to hang out with our dear friends before their set.

Weekend Parenting
D's been really good at grabbing the kids while I shower, fold laundry, do dishes, and nap on the weekends. He always finds ways, though, to make his job a bit easier too...he has one of these set up downstairs in his studio too.

Girls Night Out
E's been thinking of what she wanted as her 'big sister gift.' It took her a while and a lot of ideas, but she finally settled on getting her ears pierced. She asked a few friends about what it was like, and if it hurt...in the end she felt convinced it was for her.
So she and I were off to the mall for a little dinner and a stop off at Claire's (coincidentally the exact same place where I got my ears pierced).
I gave her an out up until the end (I wanted her to be responsible for this decision)...she vacillated between being really excited and petrified. She chose her studs (rainbow sparkle, her favorite color these days-big surprise), sat in the chair, the technician marked her ears, she gave Claire-Bear a squeeze, and buckled down and did it. Admittedly she was shocked by how it did hurt, but quickly reverted to a calm state while she shyly admired her lobes in the mirror.

Back Talk
N seems to be right on track developmentally...he's been smiling, cooing and really interested in interacting with us, he can't get enough of his sister!

You Know How It Is...
Well, I have become one of those crazy-busy and sleep deprived moms that just can't seem to find even one spare moment in my day to keep y'all updated on our newest addition. I have, though, taken a few pictures in the last few weeks that I hope will be enough...I can tell you he weighed just under 12 pounds at his 2-week check-up and has started smiling at us! His big sister can't get enough of him, but is still adjusting to life with a newborn...Recently he's hit a bit of a fussy patch that we're still working out...all in all we love being a family of four, and I can't believe he's been with us for almost a month!
