  3. Hi; I just got to your blog through Willi Galloway's Diggin Food, and I have to comment that I *didn't* like this book (and I bought it, too, wah). I think it is too broad and shallow. I would like more detail. I have Eliot Coleman's Winter Gardening book and Storey's Raising Chickens. I want to find one on raising rabbits too, and then I think I will successfully go beyond the basics that this book presents. What do you think?

  4. Hi Methylgrace. I guess because I'm just getting started in the world of backyard farming I have gleaned some really great info from this book already. It does cover a lot of territory that I am sure individual books would cover more thoroughly (i.e. Storey's Chickens, which I love). It's actually changed my mind about starting to raise dual purpose hens next round (currently have 3 pet egg layers). It's basic, but for a newbie like me, I'm eatin' it up! Thanks for checking my site out, I'll put the Coleman book on my library list!
