Out and About

My confidence has been growing lately and I convinced myself that a trip to the zoo was a safe first "major" outing with both kids on my own. The weather was great and we had a nice time.

......................................................

This weekend also proved to be a nice time, we visited the Ballard spray/skateboard park where E practiced a bit of water ballet and N could be found under the umbrella perfecting his newly learned trick of guiding his hand to his mouth for some chomp-time.

Sun-Day

D's been working a lot lately, a-lot. I really look forward to the weekends when he makes a pretty good effort to put down the guitars and just be part of the family. I'm really not looking for too much on the weekends, just some time together, when I don't have to be the only set of hands trying to manage an 8-week-old and a 4-year-old all day and night. Today the weather was warm and we needed a few things to bring the temperature down to a reasonable level: Molly Moons, the Green Lake wadding pool, and a trip to the park with some friends, with a stop-off to watch the sunset before bed. I love my family.

Back on the Beach

Finally made it down to the water for some food and sand playtime this evening. I've been aching to get down to put my toes in the sand since N's been around but it seems impossible to lug everything there on my own. A family playdate though, assured me a few extra hands and yummy food I didn't have to pack! Thanks Parson's!

* E refused my suggestion of wearing her swimsuit, and after getting repeatedly wet in her clothes, she ended up in her skivvies for most of the evening...you're only 4 once right?

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

It's frick-frackin hot 'round these parts, triple digits today with high humidity and no breeze. It took poor ol' N 2 hours to settle in for sleep last night, even though he was only outfitted in a diaper and a light blanket swaddle. We purchased a small air conditioner earlier in the summer, but I'm afraid it's not much help...only keeping the upstairs a toasty 82 degrees. That left us with only a few activities worth exerting energy on; Mary Poppins won out without an argument on my part (I hate turning the TV on in the Summer). It's one of E's all-time favorites, and N loved the music, kicking his little bare feet like crazy.

Oh-ah-oh...Girls...Just Wanna Have Fu-un!

Last night marked our second Girls Night. E was so excited to get her little toenails painted, after the paint dried we strolled the mall, and grabbed some dinner at Red Robin.

Lazy Days of Summer

We've been trying to take advantage of the streak of unusually warm and sunny days with outings to wadding pools with friends and lots of backyard time. E's been especially creative lately; here you can see her latest invention: A Spider Banger (a tool that takes down spider webs).
