An Unexpected Visit

Those kooky gals of mine fumbled up our 10 steps to come pay me a visit on our deck this afternoon.  They sun bathed for a bit, then wandered around finding various interesting bits, and then just as quickly as they appeared they tottled down leaving a few presents behind...

Garden Gifts

Sometimes all I need to feel a little appreciation are the gifts my tended garden gives.  Those blooms of course are doing nothing that is not innately natural to them, but it feels nice to pass by a plant and see that it's doing well, and is happy with the life I provide (however meager).

Jump Rope

E looked up at me from the floor where she was sitting and said:

"It's not that easy for Grandma's and Grandpa's to jump rope."

They Regaurd One Another:

Sweet Pea's

I was genuinely jealous after clicking on Brian's blog this morning; viewing his delightful bounty from his sunny garden.  Then later in the morning I thought to wander outside and check out my own sugar pods; HOORAY!

Swamp Water

Until today N has been really anti-juice.  I didn't really mind, if fact I kinda preferred it to the apple juice addicted toddler except I'm sensing our days of nursing winding down.   The weather is also (supposed to be) heating up, and I'd like another alternative on hand for hydration aside from his water, which incidentally he loves.  I liked offering smoothies with hidden veggies blended in and Odwalla to E when she was younger, especially Superfood; I felt it was a great way to get extra greens in her and she loved them!  So this morning I gave him his cup with Superfood, his banana and a handful of Mighty Bites, and he loved it!  He was in breakfast heaven!

Backyard Time

The sun came out today, and warmed up our backyard enough for us girls to get out for most of the lazy-ish day.

Yogurt = Yo-Mess

We've hit that "this-is-my-spoon-don't-take-it-away-even-if-I'm-making-a-really-big-mess-phase.

Shortly followed by the "oh-screw-it-I'll-just-toss-the-spoon-and-dump-it-all-over-my-face-phase.

I'm already exhausted and it's only breakfast time...

N's words have been a bit slower to come than E's were. He is though, steadily adding to his repertoire!

Pullet = teenage chicken; not a chick any longer & not a hen yet.

Our gals are big, cannot believe they grew so quickly, and are going to get even b-i-g-g-e-r. The coop isn't quite done yet, so after hanging out in the backyard all day we still bring them in at night. They love wandering around outside their run when we're out there. They flutter around in a tight group gobbling up grass and clover, and any little bugs or worms they find. I still have to keep an eye on E because she just wants to cuddle with them, like a puppy.  I even caught her taking Marigold down the slide on her lap a few weeks ago.  They are for the most part terrified of her, and have, what I believe, come up with a pretty ingenious strategy for keeping her away; they hang out in the rose bushes.  This also works well when they want to avoid coming in at night and we have to lure them with empty meal worm containers.  Petunia is now regularly clucking, while the other two still peep. All 3 have yet to grow their combs and waddles...still pretty sure we have no roosters on the premises.

Vashon Island

My dad's sister lives a 20 minute ferry ride away on Vashon Island. It's beautiful, and it didn't rain yesterday! We piled all the cousins onto the boat and headed over for a fun filled visit. I'm talkin' filled! We ascended on their beautiful property just after lunch like a swarm of ants, and didn't leave them in peace until 7pm. Thank you so much Aunt Olivia and Uncle John, what a totally fun field trip!

I know mom would have loved a picture with all her grand babies together, but we were lucky to just know where all 6 were simultaneously...we joked about getting t-shirts made up with large numbers printed on them for a quick count-off.

Snaggle Tooth

His top left central incisor has finally emerged! After giving us so much grief at night, and throughout most of his birthday week, we're all feeling a bit better...until the next one.

Thanks Walsh family!  We simply could not go all summer long without a Boston hat for our guy!  Love it!

School's Out

We were so lucky to have E's first year of schooling be so positive.  We loved her teacher; a strong, silly and loving woman.  Ms Nani made Jr. Kindergarten exactly what we had hoped it would be.

Thank you, Ms. Nani!

The Cake.

This cake tin is a bit of a tradition in our family, my mom used it a fair amount with us growing up.  I used it for E's first cake, Karlee used it for Laila, and now N's debut; all decorated to match our outfits.
